Integration: MarineTraffic

During such a long trip they go out of all network coverage and visibility is lost. To retain visibility during the trip the platform can integrate with MarineTraffic.

Problem Marine Traffic can solve

If assets are equipped with Sensolus trackers they are capturing all locations on land. However, when the asset is also shipped long distance over sea where there is no network connectivity and getting location information is problematic. The goal of the Marine traffic integration is to retain visibility and progress information during the sea shipment phase has well.

Assets are sometimes shipped over long distances by boat. During such a long trip they go out of all network coverage and visibility is lost. To retain visibility during the trip the platform can integrate with an external service Marine Traffic which allows to track vessels. Trackers are automatically linked and unlinked in harbors and will inherit their locations during the shipment.

Marine Traffic

Marine traffic is an external service which aggregates and captures all shipping location data.

Almost all commercial vessels report at least hourly their GNSS based location data. Marine traffic provides API’s which allows external applications like the Sensolus platform to retrieve this location data.

Cost aspect MarineTraffic integration

There is an additional cost involved in this solution for the MarineTraffic integration. This cost is a function of the number of vessels. This solution is only applicable in case there is a well defined fleet with an enumerable number of vessels. Contact your sales representative to learn more.
