Tracker configuration best practices

The ability to remotely control the configuration of tracking devices on an individual basis provides a very useful tool, but on the other hand may lead to operational mistakes if not used carefully.

When managing a fleet of tracking devices, keep the following best practices in mind:

Make sure all trackers are configured through a Tracker usage Profile
Make sure all trackers that are mounted on the same asset type, share the same configuration profile.
Make sure that the selected configuration profile, matches with the asset type and the expected tracker behavior.
When changing a tracker's configuration, please reflect on the impact of the planned changes on the tracker's battery consumption.
Please remember that the procedure to change a tracker's configuration is not instantaneous. The new settings will be applied the next time that the tracker checks for new configurations. Depending on the type of tracker this may take up to 25 hours. Please also bear in mind that when many changes need to be applied, it may take more than one cycle to conclude.
